Quick Summary:
The Osun State Government unveils a Security Trust Fund to strengthen safety across the state, urging collective support from individuals, corporate bodies, and institutions.
The Osun State Government has appealed for broader public and private sector support following the introduction of a security intervention fund aimed at enhancing safety and stability across the state.
The call was made by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Teslim Igbalaye, during the unveiling of the Osun State Security Trust Fund held in Osogbo.
“Security Is A Shared Responsibility”
Speaking at the event, Igbalaye emphasised that maintaining security requires collective effort, noting that government alone cannot shoulder the responsibility.
He explained that the fund is designed to boost the capacity of security agencies through the provision of operational tools, including patrol vehicles, communication gadgets, and surveillance systems, to improve response time and intelligence gathering.
Adeleke’s Administration Driving The Initiative
Igbalaye commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for driving the initiative, describing it as part of the administration’s commitment to sustaining peace and stability in Osun State.
He noted that Osun has maintained a relatively calm security environment due to ongoing collaboration between the government and security agencies but warned that sustaining such stability requires continuous stakeholder support.
Transparency And Accountability Assured
On accountability, the SSG assured that all contributions to the fund would be properly managed, stressing that transparency and integrity would guide its implementation.
He further called on corporate organisations, financial institutions, community groups, and residents to support the initiative, noting that every contribution counts in strengthening security across the state.
Strengthening Public Confidence
The launch of the Osun State Security Trust Fund, according to Igbalaye, forms part of broader measures to enhance safety, support security personnel, and reinforce public confidence in the state’s security framework.
He commended the dedication of security operatives across the state, describing their role as critical despite the challenges they face.
