As the Big Brother Naija Season 10 finale approaches, housemate Imisi has revealed her current mindset regarding the substantial N150 million grand prize. During her final diary session, Imisi admitted to having no concrete plans for the winnings should she emerge victorious.

“Honestly, right now I don’t have a set plan for the money. I need to seek financial advice first because I’ve never had such a large amount before,” she stated. This pragmatic approach suggests a level-headedness and awareness of the responsibilities that come with such a significant windfall.

When questioned about her preferences for a winner other than herself, Imisi expressed support for her fellow finalists: Dede, Jason Jae, Kola, Kaybobo, and Isabella. She lauded their individual qualities and strengths, indicating a sense of camaraderie within the competitive environment.

The Big Brother Naija Season 10 grand finale is poised to be a captivating event, with nine housemates vying for the coveted top prize. The victor will receive a ₦150 million prize package, the largest in the show’s history, underscoring the magnitude of the competition. Imisi’s acknowledgement of her need for financial guidance highlights a responsible perspective on managing newfound wealth, a sentiment that resonates with the anticipation surrounding the finale.

Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has described Chinua Achebe’s 1958 novel, Things Fall Apart, as the greatest African book ever written.

Speaking in a recent interview, Edochie said the novel’s enduring popularity stems from its authentic portrayal of African life and history. He noted that although several African writers have since explored similar themes, none has matched the strength and influence of Achebe’s work.

Edochie urged African writers and creatives to tell their own stories, describing this as their greatest advantage on the global stage. He also expressed concern that foreign cultural influences were overshadowing African talent and identity.

Reflecting on his own experience, the actor recalled being given Western names such as Elvis Presley and John Wayne before choosing the culturally significant name “Uwadiegwu.”

Afrobeats singer Austine Kelechi, popularly known as Tekno Miles, has defended the controversial “brain-rot content” trend, also referred to as the Olodo Uprising.

Speaking during a recent interview with Yanga FM Lagos, the Pana crooner argued that intellectual content no longer appeals to many Nigerians. According to him, comedy and entertainment have never been primarily about intelligence but about enjoyment and amusement.

Tekno cited Nollywood comedy legends Nkem Owoh, popularly known as Osuofia, and the late John Okafor, known as Mr Ibu, as examples. He said audiences admired them for their goofy and entertaining performances rather than their intellectual abilities.

“Intellectual no dey work again. Wetin I go do with your intellect?” he said, adding that he could watch comedian Carter Efe for hours simply because his humorous behaviour was entertaining.

His comments have sparked renewed debate about the place of intellectual content in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving entertainment industry.
