Dan Bello believes that greed is the motivation behind Trump’s decision to label Nigeria as a country of concern.

Activist and commentator Bello Galadanci, known as Dan Bello, has criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to reinstate Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC). In a post on X, Bello refuted claims of a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria, labeling it a scheme exploited by foreign entities for financial gain.

Bello argues that certain U.S.-based lobbyists and NGOs inflate Nigeria’s security challenges to attract international funding, asserting that insecurity affects all Nigerians regardless of religion. He highlights that while Nigeria faces genuine issues like Boko Haram and herder-farmer clashes, these are rooted in poverty and banditry, not religious persecution.

Referencing the removal of the CPC designation by President Biden after U.S. reports found no evidence of religious genocide, Bello accuses organizations of spreading misinformation for financial benefit, using unverified reports and recycled videos. He also alleges the exploitation of religious freedom campaigns for personal profit.

The Nigerian government has echoed Bello’s sentiments, attributing killings to banditry rather than religious persecution. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms ongoing efforts to restore peace.

Bello concludes by condemning the “CPC hustle” as greed disguised as religious concern, benefiting foreign intermediaries more than the victims of violence. His post has garnered significant online support from Nigerians who agree that Western narratives often overlook the complex socioeconomic factors driving insecurity in the country.

The Nigeria Police Command in Benue State has dismissed reports alleging that Mobile Police personnel were withdrawn from Ayilamo community in Logo Local Government Area.

In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Orchia Aondogwu, the report was described as unfounded and baseless. He stated that Mobile Police personnel remained deployed in Ayilamo alongside the Divisional Police team and other tactical units.

Aondogwu also said additional military personnel had been deployed to reinforce security in the area, urging the public to disregard the report.

However, the traditional ruler of Ayilamo, Mue Ter, Chief Torkoer Samuel, contradicted the police account. He claimed that the Mobile Police personnel left the community on Wednesday with their equipment and Armoured Personnel Carriers.

The conflicting accounts have raised questions about the current security situation in Ayilamo and the extent of military presence in the community.
