Quick Summary:
The Federal High Court announces the commencement of its electronic filing system in the Lagos Judicial Division, with manual submissions ending on April 24, 2026.

The Federal High Court of Nigeria has announced that its electronic filing (e-filing) system will officially take effect in the Lagos Judicial Division from April 27, 2026.

According to the court, April 24, 2026, has been set as the deadline for manual submission of new cases in the division. After this date, all fresh filings must be carried out exclusively through the e-filing platform.

The court clarified that cases instituted before the rollout date will continue to be handled manually until they are concluded and judgments delivered.

Warning Against Under-Declaration Of Claims

In a statement issued by the Acting Chief Registrar, Yahaya Yakubu Shafa, the court warned legal practitioners against under-declaring claims or misrepresenting filed documents to reduce filing fees.

Legal Mail Accounts Mandatory For Access

To ensure a smooth transition, the court directed all legal practitioners to obtain Legal Mail accounts before the commencement date, noting that such accounts are mandatory for accessing the e-filing platform.

The court also instructed law firms and chambers to upload registration documents issued by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) when setting up their profiles on the platform.

E-Affidavit Platform For Oath Administration

The court further announced that all documents requiring oath administration must be processed through the e-Affidavit platform, although deponents must still appear physically before a Commissioner for Oaths for verification.

This hybrid approach, the court explained, ensures both digital efficiency and procedural integrity in affidavit processing.

Training And Compliance Measures

To guide users, the court has made available instructional materials and tutorial videos online, detailing how to navigate and use the new e-filing system.

The statement urged all legal practitioners to comply fully with the new system to ensure a seamless transition and enhance judicial efficiency in the Lagos Division.

The Nigeria Police Command in Benue State has dismissed reports alleging that Mobile Police personnel were withdrawn from Ayilamo community in Logo Local Government Area.

In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Orchia Aondogwu, the report was described as unfounded and baseless. He stated that Mobile Police personnel remained deployed in Ayilamo alongside the Divisional Police team and other tactical units.

Aondogwu also said additional military personnel had been deployed to reinforce security in the area, urging the public to disregard the report.

However, the traditional ruler of Ayilamo, Mue Ter, Chief Torkoer Samuel, contradicted the police account. He claimed that the Mobile Police personnel left the community on Wednesday with their equipment and Armoured Personnel Carriers.

The conflicting accounts have raised questions about the current security situation in Ayilamo and the extent of military presence in the community.
