Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi is targeting the record for the most Premier League appearances by an African player.

The 30-year-old moved into second place on the all-time list after Fulham’s 1-1 draw against Aston Villa at Villa Park last Saturday. He had previously been level with former Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah.

Iwobi has made 329 Premier League appearances across spells with Arsenal, Everton and Fulham. He recorded 100 appearances for Arsenal, 123 for Everton and has featured 106 times for Fulham.

Former Ivory Coast international Kolo Touré currently holds the record with 352 appearances. Iwobi remains determined to surpass that mark.

“I’m trying to break the record. I think Kolo Touré is up there, so I’ll keep looking forward and see if I can break that,” he told FFC TV.

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has dismissed reports that he has two matches to save his position at the club.

Carrick addressed the media on Monday ahead of United’s Champions League meeting with Roma at Old Trafford. The Red Devils are currently enduring a difficult run, having failed to win any of their last nine matches in all competitions.

Reports have suggested that Carrick could be dismissed before the international break if results do not improve. However, he rejected the idea of a specific ultimatum.

“No, not at all. I can’t look into the future—you never know what is going to happen,” Carrick said.

The manager insisted that he remains focused on the upcoming match, despite United’s recent results.

“I can’t wait for the game tomorrow. You might think I’m crazy with the results we’ve had,” he added.

Following the clash with Roma, United will host Aston Villa in the Premier League this weekend. Those two fixtures could prove significant as Carrick attempts to guide the club out of its prolonged poor run.

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has explained his decision to leave Bruno Fernandes out of the starting XI for Sunday’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth.

Fernandes began the crucial fixture on the bench after reportedly criticising Carrick’s tactics during United’s 4–1 defeat to Como. Speaking before kick-off, Carrick acknowledged that selecting the team was difficult but said he had chosen the lineup he believed would deliver the desired performance.

Asked specifically why Fernandes had been dropped, Carrick offered a brief response: “Pure football.”

The decision comes as United attempt to end a miserable run of seven matches without a victory. With pressure mounting on the club, Carrick will hope his selection changes can inspire a much-needed result against Bournemouth.
