Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has recently disclosed the story behind her latest tattoo, revealing that it was born from the pain of a past heartbreak. In an interview with Katy Igwe, Savage explained the lengths she went to ensure a private and comfortable experience, flying in a tattoo artist from Los Angeles to her home in Lagos.

Savage expressed her desire to avoid the public setting of a tattoo parlor while processing her emotional pain. She recounted the intense session, noting that the artist was concerned by the amount of blood and her apparent distress.

The singer admitted that the tattoo served as an outlet for the overwhelming emotions she experienced during a difficult relationship. “Last two years was a very hard time,” Savage stated. “The relationship I experienced was crazy. I’m so happy I’m out of that relationship.” The tattoo, therefore, represents a permanent reminder of a painful period and her subsequent journey towards healing.

Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has described Chinua Achebe’s 1958 novel, Things Fall Apart, as the greatest African book ever written.

Speaking in a recent interview, Edochie said the novel’s enduring popularity stems from its authentic portrayal of African life and history. He noted that although several African writers have since explored similar themes, none has matched the strength and influence of Achebe’s work.

Edochie urged African writers and creatives to tell their own stories, describing this as their greatest advantage on the global stage. He also expressed concern that foreign cultural influences were overshadowing African talent and identity.

Reflecting on his own experience, the actor recalled being given Western names such as Elvis Presley and John Wayne before choosing the culturally significant name “Uwadiegwu.”
