Governor Biodun Oyebanji declares APC’s goal to win all 177 wards in Ekiti’s 2026 governorship election, as observers and party leaders commend peaceful congress.

EkitiAPCVictoryDrive has gained momentum as Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is working towards winning all 177 wards in the state during the June 20, 2026, governorship election.

Speaking at his ward in Ikogosi Ekiti on Saturday during the party’s delegates congress, Oyebanji expressed confidence that the APC’s performance and unity would deliver a historic victory across the state.

APC’s Growing Popularity in Ekiti

Governor Oyebanji stated that his administration has endeared the APC to the people of Ekiti, including members of the opposition, through inclusive governance and visible development projects.

He emphasized that the record to beat in the upcoming election is to win all 177 wards, a feat that has never been achieved in the state’s history.

Peaceful Delegates Congress

The delegates’ congress, held across the 177 wards, was organized to elect delegates who will affirm Governor Oyebanji as the APC governorship candidate during the party’s primary election on October 27, 2025.

The governor commended party members for their unity and peaceful conduct, describing the exercise as “another demonstration of the maturity and discipline that define the APC in Ekiti State.”

APC Confirms Oyebanji as Consensus Candidate

The APC National Working Committee (NWC) had earlier announced Governor Oyebanji as the party’s consensus governorship candidate following the withdrawal of Mrs. Atinuke Olayemi Omolayo, leaving the governor as the sole aspirant.

The party had previously disqualified two other aspirants, Kayode Ojo and Abimbola Olawumi, from the race.

The development has further strengthened Oyebanji’s position ahead of the 2026 election, with party leaders and members rallying behind his candidacy.

Committee Chairman Commends Conduct of Congress

The Chairman of the APC Delegates Congress Committee for Ekiti State, Jaret Tenebe, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the congress elections across all 177 wards.

Tenebe, who also serves as the APC Chairman in Edo State, congratulated the delegates who emerged from the exercise and praised the peaceful and transparent process.

He noted that the party followed due process throughout the exercise, ensuring that no crisis occurred during the congress.

Observers Applaud Peaceful Process

A coalition of civil society organisations (CSOs) and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)-registered observers also commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of the APC delegates’ election.

The CSOs — Citizen Right For Peace And Non Violence Initiative, Global Development Centre For Rescue Mission Nigeria, and Suitable African Initiative For Suitable And Positive Development — issued a communiqué in Ado Ekiti on Saturday, read by their Coordinator, Romanus Azubuike.

Azubuike explained that the CSOs observed the congress across the three senatorial districts of the state, covering all 177 electoral wards and 16 local government areas, in line with the party’s guidelines.

The CSOs commended all stakeholders and party members for their orderliness and peaceful conduct, noting that Ekiti State remained calm during and after the exercise.

Azubuike also praised Governor Oyebanji for providing a conducive environment for the congress and for not interfering in the process, despite being a candidate.

Unity and Confidence Ahead of 2026

Governor Oyebanji praised the cohesion within the APC, noting that the party’s unity, performance, and grassroots appeal would ensure a resounding victory in the forthcoming election.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustained development, inclusive governance, and continued delivery of democratic dividends to the people of Ekiti State.

The Nigeria Police Command in Benue State has dismissed reports alleging that Mobile Police personnel were withdrawn from Ayilamo community in Logo Local Government Area.

In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Orchia Aondogwu, the report was described as unfounded and baseless. He stated that Mobile Police personnel remained deployed in Ayilamo alongside the Divisional Police team and other tactical units.

Aondogwu also said additional military personnel had been deployed to reinforce security in the area, urging the public to disregard the report.

However, the traditional ruler of Ayilamo, Mue Ter, Chief Torkoer Samuel, contradicted the police account. He claimed that the Mobile Police personnel left the community on Wednesday with their equipment and Armoured Personnel Carriers.

The conflicting accounts have raised questions about the current security situation in Ayilamo and the extent of military presence in the community.
