Tiwa Savage Addresses Age-Shaming in Fashion Choices.
In a recent episode of the ‘Receipts’ podcast, renowned Afrobeats singer Tiwa Savage candidly discussed the criticism she endures regarding her fashion choices, particularly as a 44-year-old mother. Savage articulated her frustration with the double standards that seem to exist in the entertainment industry, highlighting the stark contrast between the reception of her wardrobe and that of other global female icons.
Savage noted that while international stars like Beyoncé are celebrated for their beauty and confidence in dressing freely, she often faces ridicule and age-shaming in her home country of Nigeria. “They age-shame me every single day,” she remarked, addressing the frequent comments about her choice to wear bikinis. In her view, the societal expectations imposed on women in their 40s are not only unrealistic but also restrictive.
The singer pointed out that age should not dictate how a woman expresses her identity and style. “My son is going to be like, my mum is a powerful and beautiful woman,” she affirmed, emphasizing the importance of self-acceptance and empowerment. Tiwa Savage’s remarks resonate with a broader discourse on gender, age, and societal norms, advocating for a more inclusive perception of beauty and fashion that transcends age boundaries.
Nollywood actress Mary Njoku has recently ignited a debate regarding the necessity of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination for university admissions in Nigeria. In a statement posted on her Instagram story, Njoku questioned the need for JAMB and post-UTME, arguing that the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) should be sufficient proof of a candidate’s completion of secondary education.
Her statement comes amidst recent controversy surrounding JAMB, particularly following widespread reports of mass failures in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME). While JAMB has admitted to errors and announced retakes for affected candidates, Njoku’s questioning highlights a deeper concern regarding the redundancy and potential inefficiencies within the current university admission process. The actress’s comments add fuel to an existing debate about the effectiveness and fairness of the JAMB examination in evaluating a student’s readiness for tertiary education.
South African sensation Tyla is poised to make history as the first African personality to host the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. Organizers announced the Grammy-winning artist as the host of the 2025 edition, scheduled to air live on June 21st from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.
Beyond hosting duties, Tyla has also secured two nominations: Favourite Global Music Star and Favourite Music Collaboration for “Show Me Love” with WizTheMc, and “bees & honey.”

Early Thursday morning, American musician Chris Brown was taken into custody at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester by officers from the Metropolitan Police. The arrest, occurring shortly after 2:00 AM, is connected to an alleged assault on music producer Abe Diaw at Tape nightclub in London’s Mayfair district on February 19, 2023.
Mr. Diaw alleges an unprovoked attack by Mr. Brown at the Hanover Square venue.
