Quick Summary:
Former APC deputy spokesperson Timi Frank alleges that Nigerian security agencies are plotting to manipulate audio and video recordings using artificial intelligence to incriminate former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

The former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank, has alleged a plot by Nigerian security agencies to doctor audio and visual recordings purportedly linked to former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

In a statement issued on Friday, Frank claimed that El-Rufai has been placed under intense surveillance while in custody, with his conversations with lawyers and family members allegedly being secretly recorded.

He accused the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Department of State Services (DSS) of collaborating to bug El-Rufai’s room and record his private discussions.

“AI Being Used To Frame El-Rufai”

According to Frank, the alleged recordings are being manipulated through artificial intelligence technology to incriminate the former governor.

He further claimed that operatives were reviewing the recordings to select those that could be doctored and leaked to the press.

Frank alleged that the motive behind the purported plot was to damage El-Rufai’s reputation and prolong his detention.

El-Rufai’s Legal Troubles

Reports indicate that Nasir El-Rufai has been in detention for separate charges filed by the ICPC and the DSS, despite being granted bail.

He was arraigned in separate courts on allegations of national security breaches and corruption by the ICPC and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

As of press time, neither the ICPC nor the DSS had issued an official response to Frank’s allegations.

The Nigeria Police Command in Benue State has dismissed reports alleging that Mobile Police personnel were withdrawn from Ayilamo community in Logo Local Government Area.

In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Orchia Aondogwu, the report was described as unfounded and baseless. He stated that Mobile Police personnel remained deployed in Ayilamo alongside the Divisional Police team and other tactical units.

Aondogwu also said additional military personnel had been deployed to reinforce security in the area, urging the public to disregard the report.

However, the traditional ruler of Ayilamo, Mue Ter, Chief Torkoer Samuel, contradicted the police account. He claimed that the Mobile Police personnel left the community on Wednesday with their equipment and Armoured Personnel Carriers.

The conflicting accounts have raised questions about the current security situation in Ayilamo and the extent of military presence in the community.
