Portable Blames Ex-Lover for Grammy Award Misfortunes.

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has recently made headlines by accusing his ex-lover, Queen Dami, of hindering his chances of winning a Grammy Award. This claim arises just after the couple’s public fallout, characterized by a heated dispute on social media.
In an interview with media personality Daddy Freeze, Portable suggested a spiritual dimension to their breakup, revealing that he sought divine intervention through ‘ifa’—a spiritual practice aimed at resolving misfortunes. He asserts that shortly after this prayer, Queen Dami departed from his life, implying a connection between her departure and his stagnant career prospects.
Stating, “She is one of the reasons I don’t have a Grammy award, considering how much effort I put into my music,” Portable expressed frustration regarding her perceived infidelity during their relationship. He attributed his lack of success in the music industry, particularly the coveted Grammy accolade, to the alleged disloyalty of his partner, asserting that faithful women typically bring him good fortune, while unfaithfulness leads to setbacks.
As this saga continues to unfold, it raises questions about the intersections of personal relationships and career aspirations, particularly in the high-stakes arena of the music industry. Portable’s claims not only highlight his tumultuous romantic life but also reflect the larger narratives surrounding ambition and spiritual beliefs in contemporary Nigerian culture.

Nollywood Actress Questions JAMB’s Relevance in University Admissions.

Nollywood actress Mary Njoku has recently ignited a debate regarding the necessity of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination for university admissions in Nigeria. In a statement posted on her Instagram story, Njoku questioned the need for JAMB and post-UTME, arguing that the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) should be sufficient proof of a candidate’s completion of secondary education.
Her statement comes amidst recent controversy surrounding JAMB, particularly following widespread reports of mass failures in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME). While JAMB has admitted to errors and announced retakes for affected candidates, Njoku’s questioning highlights a deeper concern regarding the redundancy and potential inefficiencies within the current university admission process. The actress’s comments add fuel to an existing debate about the effectiveness and fairness of the JAMB examination in evaluating a student’s readiness for tertiary education.
