Quick Summary:
OsunPDPCrisis2026 as Osun PDP chairman Sunday Bisi insists he remains in office and backs Governor Adeleke’s re-election, while ex-Governor Oyinlola maintains the party remains strong despite internal divisions.

Fresh details have emerged over the leadership crisis rocking the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as rival factions publicly restated their positions on the party’s structure and political direction ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

At the centre of the dispute is the status of the state chairman, Sunday Bisi, who has rejected claims of his removal by a stakeholders’ forum, describing the move as unconstitutional and without effect.

Bisi: “I Remain the Duly Elected Chairman”

Bisi maintained that he remains the duly elected chairman of the PDP in Osun and that his tenure remains valid. He argued that only properly constituted party organs, acting within the PDP constitution, could take decisions affecting elected officials.

He also disclosed that the PDP had not fielded a candidate for the August governorship election, adding that the party had endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for re-election.

Bisi added that most elected officials in the state, apart from the governor and deputy governor, remain members of the PDP.

Bisi Accuses Oyinlola of “Betrayal”

Responding to remarks attributed to former Governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Bisi described them as inconsistent with the mainstream position of the party in Osun.

He explained that divisions within the PDP national leadership had created uncertainty around Adeleke’s political future, prompting the governor to seek an alternative platform for re-election.

Bisi insisted that the core leadership and membership base of the PDP in Osun remained aligned with the current state executive and its decisions.

Oyinlola: “PDP Still Strong in Osun”

At a separate stakeholders’ meeting in Osogbo, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola maintained that the PDP remains a viable political force in Osun State despite reports of Governor Adeleke’s defection to the Accord Party.

He dismissed claims that the PDP structure had been collapsed into the Accord Party to support Adeleke’s re-election.

Oyinlola added that the party remains open to reconciliation, saying:

The Nigeria Police Command in Benue State has dismissed reports alleging that Mobile Police personnel were withdrawn from Ayilamo community in Logo Local Government Area.

In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Orchia Aondogwu, the report was described as unfounded and baseless. He stated that Mobile Police personnel remained deployed in Ayilamo alongside the Divisional Police team and other tactical units.

Aondogwu also said additional military personnel had been deployed to reinforce security in the area, urging the public to disregard the report.

However, the traditional ruler of Ayilamo, Mue Ter, Chief Torkoer Samuel, contradicted the police account. He claimed that the Mobile Police personnel left the community on Wednesday with their equipment and Armoured Personnel Carriers.

The conflicting accounts have raised questions about the current security situation in Ayilamo and the extent of military presence in the community.
