According to Okoye, the operation, conducted on November 5, was a joint effort between the anti-kidnapping unit of the command and local vigilance groups.
He explained that the scene was immediately cordoned off, and the body was evacuated to a mortuary for forensic examination.
Background of the Case
Mr. Jeffery Ucheagwu was reportedly abducted on October 14 at Site and Services, Umuguma, in Owerri-West LGA.
The police said the dislodged hideouts have now been placed under 24-hour surveillance to prevent the criminals from regrouping and to support further intelligence gathering on their operations.
