Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has strongly condemned the terrorist attacks on the people of Abande and Turan in Kwande Local Government Area, describing the assault as a cowardly act of terror and a challenge to the state’s security system.
The attack, which occurred on a market day, saw gunmen open fire on residents, killing several people, including a police officer, and razing houses in the community.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor said the terrorists had “dared the state and the Nigerian security system once more” and must be “attended to in the language they understand better.”

Governor Alia expressed deep sorrow over the killings and destruction, extending condolences to the victims’ families and the entire Abande community.
He assured residents that his administration would not relent in protecting lives and property, adding that security agencies had been directed to intensify operations in the affected areas.
Security Agencies Ordered to Act
The governor said the state government is strengthening collaboration with federal security authorities and local intelligence networks to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice and that future attacks are prevented.

Governor Alia also extended solidarity to the people of Turan and Kwande, urging them to remain hopeful and united despite the tragedy.
He called on residents to hold fast to hope, unity, and resilience, expressing confidence that Benue State will overcome its current security challenges.
