Quick Summary:
FRSCPellerProsecution2025 as the FRSC orders the prosecution of TikTok influencer Habeeb Hamzat, known as “Peller,” for livestreaming while driving, reinforcing its zero-tolerance stance on distracted driving.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has ordered the immediate prosecution of popular TikTok influencer Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as “Peller,” following a viral video showing him livestreaming while driving moments before a road crash.

The directive, issued by Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, marks a decisive step in the agency’s campaign against dangerous online behavior that endangers public safety.

A Condemnation of Reckless Online Behavior

The incident has drawn strong condemnation from the FRSC leadership, which described it as part of a disturbing trend among content creators who prioritize viral fame over safety regulations.

In an official statement signed by the Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, Corps Marshal Mohammed expressed deep concern over the growing disregard for traffic laws by some celebrities and influencers.

The FRSC emphasized that social media popularity does not confer immunity from the law and that traffic safety regulations apply equally to all road users.

The Incident and Its Implications

The viral footage captured Peller engaging with his online audience while operating a vehicle, moments before the crash occurred. The video, now widely circulated, provides clear evidence of distracted driving, a violation under Nigerian traffic laws.

While the extent of injuries and property damage is still being assessed, the FRSC confirmed that the evidence gathered will form the basis of the prosecution process.

Officials reiterated that using mobile devices while driving constitutes a serious traffic offense, punishable under existing road safety regulations.

Enforcement and Broader Message

The prosecution order serves as a strong deterrent to others who use public roads as a stage for dangerous online stunts. The FRSC reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing road safety laws, particularly those addressing distracted driving and reckless endangerment.

The Corps Marshal noted that the agency will continue to collaborate with law enforcement and digital platforms to curb behaviors that promote unsafe driving practices online.

By pursuing legal action, the FRSC is sending a clear message that reckless behavior for online engagement will attract real-world consequences.

As digital influence continues to expand, this case may serve as a precedent for regulating online conduct that directly impacts public safety and national road discipline.

The Nigeria Police Command in Benue State has dismissed reports alleging that Mobile Police personnel were withdrawn from Ayilamo community in Logo Local Government Area.

In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Orchia Aondogwu, the report was described as unfounded and baseless. He stated that Mobile Police personnel remained deployed in Ayilamo alongside the Divisional Police team and other tactical units.

Aondogwu also said additional military personnel had been deployed to reinforce security in the area, urging the public to disregard the report.

However, the traditional ruler of Ayilamo, Mue Ter, Chief Torkoer Samuel, contradicted the police account. He claimed that the Mobile Police personnel left the community on Wednesday with their equipment and Armoured Personnel Carriers.

The conflicting accounts have raised questions about the current security situation in Ayilamo and the extent of military presence in the community.
