Fatal Incident at Orile-Iganmu
In a statement on Friday, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed explained that the incident occurred on November 16, 2023, at Orile-Iganmu, Lagos, during a routine traffic patrol.
The deceased officer, Deputy Chief Road Marshal Assistant Ajomale, was on duty when a container-laden truck, driven by Onyekachi at excessive speed, collided with a stationary mini truck that had been flagged down for inspection.
FRSC Commends Court’s Decision
The FRSC Corps Marshal described the ruling as a strong deterrent to reckless drivers, particularly operators of heavy-duty vehicles, stressing that negligence and lawlessness on Nigerian roads will no longer be tolerated.
He reaffirmed that the Corps will continue to seek justice for fallen officers and innocent road users affected by reckless driving.
Strengthening Enforcement and Legal Action
Mohammed further disclosed that the FRSC will intensify enforcement measures, support prosecutions, and collaborate with stakeholders to combat dangerous driving nationwide.
He warned that traffic violators who endanger lives would face severe legal consequences, reiterating the Corps’ commitment to protecting road users and ensuring safer highways across the country.
