Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has disclosed that online bullying influenced her decision to publicly support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the last presidential election. Speaking during an interview with Chude, she criticised Nigerians for attacking individuals because of their political choices.

Akintola explained that the backlash directed at veteran actress Joke Silva for supporting Tinubu particularly affected her. Describing the criticism as harsh and inhumane, she decided to declare her own support for Tinubu despite the possibility of further attacks.

The actress condemned the growing intolerance surrounding political discussions in Nigeria. She argued that citizens have the right to hold different opinions and support candidates of their choice without being harassed or insulted.

Her comments highlight the need for maturity and respect in political discourse. Democracy depends on the freedom to express diverse views, and disagreement should not result in bullying or personal attacks. Nigerians should therefore learn to engage in political discussions constructively while respecting the choices of others.

The Kano State Multi-Agency Task Force on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking has warned tricycle owners against allowing their vehicles to be used for criminal activities. The warning followed the confiscation of a commercial tricycle linked to the notorious phone-snatching syndicate known as Yan Liya.

The task force chairman, Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado, disclosed that the group used commercial tricycles, commonly called Adaidaita Sahu or Keke Napep, to steal mobile phones across the state. One member of the syndicate was arrested and convicted, while the vehicle used in the crime was forfeited.

Rimin Gado alleged that some owners knowingly rented out their tricycles to criminals for higher payments. He warned that both riders and vehicle owners would face serious consequences, including the forfeiture of vehicles used as instruments of crime.

Since its inauguration on July 22, the task force has arrested more than 380 suspects and secured over 230 convictions. Its operations have also led to the seizure of illicit drugs, including cannabis, tramadol, pregabalin and diazepam, as well as dangerous weapons.

The task force urged residents to remain vigilant when using commercial tricycles and encouraged owners to monitor how their vehicles are being used.

The National Assembly has clarified that only one Constitution Alteration Bill has been transmitted to Nigeria’s 36 State Houses of Assembly. The clarification was issued by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana.

According to Ogunlana, the bill transmitted is the 1999 Constitution, Sixth Alteration Bill, 2026, which seeks to establish State Police Services and address related matters. He stressed that it is incorrect to suggest that all pending Constitution Alteration Bills have been forwarded to the states.

The National Assembly prioritised the State Police Bill in response to widespread public concern over insecurity and the challenges facing the nation’s policing system. The proposed amendment is intended to provide a constitutional and legal framework for improving security administration.

Ogunlana explained that other alteration bills would be transmitted only after both chambers of the National Assembly pass them in identical form, as required by the constitutional amendment process. He urged the public and the media to rely on official statements for accurate information regarding the ongoing constitutional review.
