Troops of the 17 Brigade, working in collaboration with the Nigerian Police, have rescued seven kidnapped victims along the Dayi–Malumfashi road in Katsina State. The operation, reportedly conducted at about 11:45 p.m. on September 21, 2026, formed part of ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities in the area.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, security forces intercepted a green Volkswagen Golf 3 with registration number Kano BCH-528ZY while conducting operations along the route. The vehicle was conveying six female students of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma and its driver, Sani Umar.
The rescue highlights the importance of coordinated action between the military and the police in protecting citizens and securing major roads. Following the operation, authorities continued efforts to ensure the victims’ safety and determine the circumstances surrounding their abduction.
Military sources stated that troops remained on high alert and maintained strong operational readiness across the area. The successful rescue demonstrates the ongoing commitment of security agencies to restoring safety and confidence in Katsina State.
