Vice President Kashim Shettima has declared that Nigeria is working again, noting that the economic reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu’s administration are now yielding positive results.

Speaking at the Nasarawa Economic Summit 2026, Shettima said the bold policy decisions of the Tinubu government have restored investor confidence and placed the nation on a path of sustainable recovery.

Fuel Subsidy Removal And Fiscal Reforms

The Vice President highlighted several key reforms, including the removal of the fuel subsidy, which he described as a decisive and courageous move taken at a critical time.

According to Shettima, the decision to end petrol subsidy payments was not part of Tinubu’s prepared inaugural speech, but an on-the-spot decision made during his swearing-in address in 2023.

Economic Recovery And Investor Confidence

Shettima noted that the reforms have begun to strengthen Nigeria’s fiscal position, with gross external reserves showing signs of recovery.

He emphasized that the administration’s economic restructuring efforts are aimed at building resilience, attracting foreign investment, and ensuring long-term stability.

Renewed Optimism For Nigeria’s Economy

The Vice President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusive growth, job creation, and macroeconomic stability, assuring that the Tinubu administration remains focused on delivering tangible results for Nigerians.

He urged stakeholders to support ongoing reforms, stressing that the short-term sacrifices would lead to long-term prosperity for the nation.

In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Orchia Aondogwu, the report was described as unfounded and baseless. He stated that Mobile Police personnel remained deployed in Ayilamo alongside the Divisional Police team and other tactical units.
