Afrobeats icon David Adeleke, known to fans as Davido, and his wife, Chioma Adeleke, celebrated their love in a lavish white wedding ceremony held in Miami. The event, reportedly costing a staggering $3.7 million, marks the culmination of their journey, following a private court ceremony in March 2023 and a grand traditional wedding in Lagos in June 2024.

Davido’s heartfelt vows to Chioma painted a picture of a resilient and profound love. “This is the most nervous I’ve ever been. You are my love, my peace. You walked into my life quietly and became the loudest and most beautiful part of it. God sent you to show me what unconditional love feels. We’ve known love only people can dream of, and pain only we can understand, and we are still here. I promise to protect you,” he expressed.

The Miami festivities drew an A-list crowd, including prominent Nigerian celebrities, influential business leaders like Aliko Dangote and Obi Cubana, and high-ranking politicians such as Governor Ademola Adeleke. The couple’s pre-wedding party, themed “Havana Night,” featured performances by Zlatan, Adekunle Gold, and B-Red, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has described Chinua Achebe’s 1958 novel, Things Fall Apart, as the greatest African book ever written.

Speaking in a recent interview, Edochie said the novel’s enduring popularity stems from its authentic portrayal of African life and history. He noted that although several African writers have since explored similar themes, none has matched the strength and influence of Achebe’s work.

Edochie urged African writers and creatives to tell their own stories, describing this as their greatest advantage on the global stage. He also expressed concern that foreign cultural influences were overshadowing African talent and identity.

Reflecting on his own experience, the actor recalled being given Western names such as Elvis Presley and John Wayne before choosing the culturally significant name “Uwadiegwu.”
