On what would have been the 63rd birthday of the late Nollywood actor John Okafor, fondly known as Mr. Ibu, his wife, Stella Maris, honored his memory with heartfelt tributes. Mr. Ibu passed away on March 2, 2024, at the age of 62, after a prolonged illness.

In a poignant Instagram post shared on Thursday, Stella reflected on the joyous celebrations that characterized her late husband’s birthdays. Accompanied by family photos, she expressed her deep sorrow at celebrating this special day without him. She wrote

Today is my late husband’s birthday (Mr. IBU). This will mark the first birthday without him celebrating with us here. I can’t forget how he used to cherish and celebrate his birthdays. We miss him so much. May his soul continue to rest in eternal peace. Amen

In a separate development, Jasmine Okekeagwu, who is claimed to be the adopted daughter of Mr. Ibu, described her relationship with the actor’s family as akin to charity. In an interview with Punch, she clarified that despite some tension during Mr. Ibu’s final days and after his passing, she maintains a connection with the family. Jasmine emphasized her commitment to her own well-being, noting that the family initially did not grasp her intentions. “I had been involved in charity work for a long time even before I met late Mr. Ibu,” she stated, highlighting her ongoing dedication to charitable efforts.
