Quick Summary:
Nollywood icon Pete Edochie dismisses recurring death rumours, saying he’s been “killed” seven times by false reports and will turn 79 in March, crediting his family’s longevity for his vitality.
Legendary Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has once again debunked rumours of his death, describing the recurring hoaxes as false and frustrating.
The 78-year-old actor, fondly known as Ebubedike, addressed the latest claim in a telephone conversation with Vanguard, insisting that he is alive and healthy.
This latest false report alleged that the actor was rushed to the hospital and died, with his son Uche Edochie supposedly confirming the news on Instagram — a claim the family has denied.
“I Have Been Killed Seven Times”
Edochie revealed that he has been the subject of multiple death hoaxes since 2012, with fabricated stories claiming he died abroad, in plane crashes, or after illness.
He also shared how one rumour reached his wife early one morning, claiming he had passed away.
“Those Who Wish You Death Will Die Before You”
Reflecting on the repeated hoaxes, Edochie recalled a lesson he learned from Nigeria’s first President, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, during an interview years ago.
Edochie, who will turn 79 on March 7, attributed his good health to family longevity, noting that his father lived to 96 years old.
