President Tinubu welcomes over 64,000 defectors from PDP, ADC, and other parties to APC in Jigawa, signaling growing grassroots support for his Renewed Hope Agenda.

JigawaDefectionWave has strengthened the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu received over 64,000 defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and other political groups in Jigawa State.

The President, represented by Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, described the massive turnout as a reflection of growing public confidence in his administration and renewed trust in the APC’s vision for national unity and development.

Tinubu’s Message to New Members

Addressing the crowd, Governor Buni conveyed President Tinubu’s assurance that the new members would enjoy equal rights and opportunities within the party.

Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening national security and boosting economic growth through major infrastructure projects, including the completion of the Kano–Maiduguri Highway, a vital trade route for northern Nigeria.

APC Leadership Commends Jigawa Governor

The President also commended Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi for his people-centred development initiatives, which he said align with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, who led members of the National Working Committee, praised Governor Namadi’s leadership and urged the defectors to fully integrate into the ruling party.

Support for Tinubu’s Reforms

Kabiru Ibrahim Masari, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Affairs, encouraged Jigawa residents to continue supporting President Tinubu’s reforms, which aim to improve lives and expand opportunities.

In his welcome address, Governor Umar Namadi highlighted the strong partnership between the state and the federal government, noting that the new entrants have further solidified APC’s dominance in Jigawa.

A Major Political Realignment

The mass defection represents one of the largest political realignments in recent years, underscoring growing grassroots support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda ahead of future political contests.

Reports also indicate that the APC is preparing to formally welcome Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah and several legislators from the PDP into the party on October 14, 2025, in Enugu.

The Nigeria Police Command in Benue State has dismissed reports alleging that Mobile Police personnel were withdrawn from Ayilamo community in Logo Local Government Area.

In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Orchia Aondogwu, the report was described as unfounded and baseless. He stated that Mobile Police personnel remained deployed in Ayilamo alongside the Divisional Police team and other tactical units.

Aondogwu also said additional military personnel had been deployed to reinforce security in the area, urging the public to disregard the report.

However, the traditional ruler of Ayilamo, Mue Ter, Chief Torkoer Samuel, contradicted the police account. He claimed that the Mobile Police personnel left the community on Wednesday with their equipment and Armoured Personnel Carriers.

The conflicting accounts have raised questions about the current security situation in Ayilamo and the extent of military presence in the community.
