Quick Summary:
Former Katsina Governor Aminu Bello Masari replaces Hope Uzodimma as chairman of the APC 2026 National Convention Central Coordination Committee.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reconstituted the leadership of its 2026 National Convention Central Coordination Committee, appointing former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, as the new chairman.

The decision was announced as part of the party’s efforts to broaden representation and strengthen internal coordination ahead of the 2026 national convention.

Uzodimma Reassigned as Treasurer

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who was initially named chairman of the committee, has been reassigned to serve as treasurer in the new arrangement.

The party also expanded the committee’s membership from 73 to 90 members to accommodate more stakeholders and ensure balanced representation across geopolitical zones.

New Members and Strategic Adjustments

Among the newly added members is Senator Barry Mpigi, alongside several other prominent APC chieftains drawn from different parts of the country.

According to the APC, the adjustments were made as part of the revised 2026 National Convention Central Coordination Committee to reflect zoning considerations and strategic exigencies within the party’s structure.

Strengthening Party Unity Ahead of 2026

Party officials said the reconstitution aims to enhance inclusivity, foster unity, and streamline preparations for the upcoming convention, which is expected to play a key role in shaping the APC’s political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Nigeria Police Command in Benue State has dismissed reports alleging that Mobile Police personnel were withdrawn from Ayilamo community in Logo Local Government Area.

In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Orchia Aondogwu, the report was described as unfounded and baseless. He stated that Mobile Police personnel remained deployed in Ayilamo alongside the Divisional Police team and other tactical units.

Aondogwu also said additional military personnel had been deployed to reinforce security in the area, urging the public to disregard the report.

However, the traditional ruler of Ayilamo, Mue Ter, Chief Torkoer Samuel, contradicted the police account. He claimed that the Mobile Police personnel left the community on Wednesday with their equipment and Armoured Personnel Carriers.

The conflicting accounts have raised questions about the current security situation in Ayilamo and the extent of military presence in the community.
