Quick Summary:
ADC says Court of Appeal ruling does not affect Senator David Mark’s leadership, urges members to ignore misinterpretations.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has clarified that the recent judgment by the Court of Appeal does not affect the party’s current leadership structure.

In a statement posted on X on Saturday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, explained that the ruling in an appeal filed by National Chairman Senator David Mark was purely procedural and did not determine the substantive leadership dispute.

Substantive Case Still Before Federal High Court

The ADC noted that the ongoing suit challenging the emergence of Senator David Mark as National Chairman and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary remains pending before the Federal High Court and has not yet been decided on its merits.

According to Abdullahi, the appellate court only directed that parties maintain the status quo pending the determination of the substantive case.

ADC Urges Members to Remain United

The party urged its members to disregard misinterpretations of the judgment, stressing that the ruling does not affect the legitimacy or tenure of the current national leadership.

Reaffirming its commitment to unity and focus, the ADC accused anti-democratic forces of attempting to impose a one-party system in Nigeria.

The Nigeria Police Command in Benue State has dismissed reports alleging that Mobile Police personnel were withdrawn from Ayilamo community in Logo Local Government Area.

In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Orchia Aondogwu, the report was described as unfounded and baseless. He stated that Mobile Police personnel remained deployed in Ayilamo alongside the Divisional Police team and other tactical units.

Aondogwu also said additional military personnel had been deployed to reinforce security in the area, urging the public to disregard the report.

However, the traditional ruler of Ayilamo, Mue Ter, Chief Torkoer Samuel, contradicted the police account. He claimed that the Mobile Police personnel left the community on Wednesday with their equipment and Armoured Personnel Carriers.

The conflicting accounts have raised questions about the current security situation in Ayilamo and the extent of military presence in the community.
