MultiChoice Announces New Decoder Prices

MultiChoice Nigeria, the operator of DStv and GOtv, has announced a reduction in decoder prices for new customers, making access to its services more affordable for Nigerians.

In a statement released on Thursday, November 20, 2025, the company confirmed that the DStv decoder price has dropped from ₦10,000 to ₦7,900, while the GOtv decoder now sells for ₦6,500, down from its previous price.

This marks the second price slash in less than six months, following similar reductions under the “We’ve Got You” campaign launched in June 2025.

Supporting Customers During Economic Challenges

Tope Oshunkeye, Executive Head of Marketing at MultiChoice Nigeria, explained that the latest price adjustment reflects the company’s commitment to supporting customers during a challenging economic period.

“This adjustment ensures that entertainment remains affordable for all Nigerians,” Oshunkeye said, adding that the revision was strategically timed ahead of the festive season, when families spend more time together at home.

The company emphasized that the move aims to ease financial strain on households while ensuring continued access to quality local and international entertainment.

Canal+ Ownership and Market Strategy

The announcement comes after Canal+, the new owner of MultiChoice, pledged to make premium entertainment more accessible across Africa.

MultiChoice noted that the new pricing not only enhances affordability but also strengthens its competitive position in a market increasingly influenced by digital streaming platforms such as YouTube and Netflix.

Broader Impact on Viewers

With the fresh price cuts, more Nigerians are expected to take advantage of DStv and GOtv’s diverse offerings, which include news, movies, sports, lifestyle, and educational content.

The company’s ongoing pricing strategy underscores its focus on customer retention, market expansion, and inclusive access to entertainment for all income levels.
