Quick Summary:
Akintunde Oyebode supports President Tinubu’s Executive Order on oil revenue remittance, says move strengthens investment climate.

The Chairman of the Forum of State Commissioners for Finance, Akintunde Oyebode, has said there is nothing wrong with President Bola Tinubu’s directive on oil revenue remittance.

Oyebode made the remark on Tuesday during an appearance on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’, where he discussed the implications of the Executive Order (EO) recently signed by the President.

Tinubu’s Executive Order Targets Efficiency

The Executive Order, according to reports, aims to safeguard and enhance oil and gas revenues for the Federation, while also curbing wasteful spending, eliminating duplicative structures, and redirecting resources for the benefit of Nigerians.

“No Negatives in Tinubu’s Directive”

Reacting to the development, Oyebode said the directive was timely and beneficial for the oil and gas sector, which has witnessed renewed investor confidence in recent years.

He added that presidential directives, some of which have been codified under the National Tax Act, have contributed to shortened contracting periods and greater operational efficiency.

Improved Investment Climate

Oyebode further noted that the macroeconomic environment has become more stable, with increased foreign exchange liquidity and growth stability, both of which enhance investor confidence.

The Nigeria Police Command in Benue State has dismissed reports alleging that Mobile Police personnel were withdrawn from Ayilamo community in Logo Local Government Area.

In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Orchia Aondogwu, the report was described as unfounded and baseless. He stated that Mobile Police personnel remained deployed in Ayilamo alongside the Divisional Police team and other tactical units.

Aondogwu also said additional military personnel had been deployed to reinforce security in the area, urging the public to disregard the report.

However, the traditional ruler of Ayilamo, Mue Ter, Chief Torkoer Samuel, contradicted the police account. He claimed that the Mobile Police personnel left the community on Wednesday with their equipment and Armoured Personnel Carriers.

The conflicting accounts have raised questions about the current security situation in Ayilamo and the extent of military presence in the community.
