The Disrespect Towards Davido: A Concern Raised by Nasty Blaq

In a recent expression of concern, skit maker Nasty Blaq has voiced his discontent regarding the disrespect directed at Afrobeats superstar Davido. Blaq lamented that the level of disrespect the DMW boss is receiving is excessive, asserting that it stems from people taking advantage of the singer’s inherent kindness.

Through a post on his X handle, Nasty Blaq stated, “The disrespect Davido is getting is way too much sha, man just wants to help people and that’s all.” This sentiment reflects a growing frustration within the entertainment community about how public figures, particularly those known for their generosity, are often subjected to undue criticism and mistreatment.

Blaq’s comments come in the wake of controversy involving content creator Korty EO, who recently accused Davido and his team of rescinding permission to post an interview video they had initially approved. Korty expressed her disappointment, stating that she had been instructed to re-edit the footage only to later be told not to share it at all. She emphasized her commitment to authenticity, urging artists to be forthcoming if they do not wish to be portrayed a certain way.

Further complicating the narrative, fellow Afrobeats artist Seun Kuti shared his feelings of exclusion after not receiving an invitation to Davido’s wedding. Kuti described the emotional turmoil he experienced, highlighting the irony of Davido’s past visits to his family’s bar, where he enjoyed complimentary drinks with large groups. Kuti’s candid remarks underscore a sense of betrayal felt by some in the industry, despite the camaraderie that may have existed previously.

These incidents collectively illuminate a troubling trend of disrespect towards artists who, like Davido, strive to uplift others. As conversations around accountability and respect continue, it is crucial for the industry to foster an environment where kindness is met with appreciation rather than exploitation.

Nollywood actress Mary Njoku has recently ignited a debate regarding the necessity of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination for university admissions in Nigeria. In a statement posted on her Instagram story, Njoku questioned the need for JAMB and post-UTME, arguing that the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) should be sufficient proof of a candidate’s completion of secondary education.

Her statement comes amidst recent controversy surrounding JAMB, particularly following widespread reports of mass failures in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME). While JAMB has admitted to errors and announced retakes for affected candidates, Njoku’s questioning highlights a deeper concern regarding the redundancy and potential inefficiencies within the current university admission process. The actress’s comments add fuel to an existing debate about the effectiveness and fairness of the JAMB examination in evaluating a student’s readiness for tertiary education.
