Speaking at a constituency empowerment programme organised by the Speaker at the Nuhu Babajo Stadium, Zaria, on Sunday, the governor said the partnership is “built on mutual respect, shared vision, and an unyielding commitment to the welfare of our people.”
Massive Empowerment Initiative
The event featured the distribution of 850 motorcycles and 30 vehicles, as well as the commissioning of sports centres across Zaria Federal Constituency.
Beneficiaries included teachers, religious leaders, polling unit heads, community support groups, and security operatives, notably the Old CPC Support Group for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Uba Sani.
Governor Uba Sani said the empowerment programme “reflects the Speaker’s unwavering belief that public office must translate into visible improvement in the lives of the people.”
He added that the initiative underscores a development philosophy anchored on productivity, inclusion, and human wellbeing, describing it as “a powerful reminder of what purposeful leadership can achieve.”
Speaker Abbas Highlights Integrated Development
In his remarks, Speaker Abbas explained that the empowerment drive began earlier with training and financial grants for women and youth, and has now expanded to include mobility and community infrastructure support.
He emphasized that the initiative aims to reward service and reinforce grassroots structures, equipping community leaders with tools to enhance their effectiveness and visibility.
Recognition of Political Loyalty and Structure
The Speaker also presented 30 vehicles to the Old CPC Support Group for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Uba Sani Continuity 2027, acknowledging their loyalty, sacrifice, and enduring commitment.
He noted that strong political structures remain vital for stability, mobilisation, and effective governance.
Sports and Community Development
Abbas justified the commissioning of sports centres across Zaria, describing sports as a vital tool for community development that promotes discipline, teamwork, and confidence among young people.
Solar Mini-Grid Commissioned in Damau
Earlier, Governor Uba Sani commissioned a 100-kilowatt solar mini-grid at Damau, Kubau Local Government Area, executed in partnership with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), the National Assembly, and the Kaduna State Government.
He revealed that the community had lived over a decade without electricity, which hindered business growth, healthcare delivery, and education.
He commended Speaker Abbas for his leadership and commitment to rural development, and praised REA Managing Director Abba Aliyu and Hon. Aliyu Mustapha Abdullahi for their roles in ensuring the project’s success.
