ADC Blasts Tinubu Over Insecurity, Says Nigerians Deserve Real Leadership

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused President Bola Tinubu of neglecting Nigeria’s worsening security crisis, urging urgent action and transparency in national security management.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as a lack of seriousness in addressing Nigeria’s worsening security challenges.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the opposition party accused the president of focusing more on political appearances and social events while Nigerians continue to lose their lives to violent attacks across the country.

“Mere Political Talk” on National Unity

The ADC dismissed Tinubu’s recent remarks about uniting Nigerians as “mere political talk,” arguing that his actions do not reflect an understanding of what true unity entails.

According to the party, insecurity has spread across several states, forcing ordinary citizens to pay ransoms in cash and food to armed groups. It described the situation as a total failure of governance, blaming the presidency for failing to acknowledge or respond effectively to the crises.

Rising Insecurity Across States

The ADC expressed concern that while communities in Kwara, Kogi, Plateau, and Zamfara are facing deadly attacks, the president continues to attend political and social gatherings, suggesting that he prioritises image over the safety of citizens.

The party recalled that hundreds were killed earlier in the year in Plateau State without any visit from the president, describing Tinubu’s claims of progress against insecurity as “a tragic denial” of the pain Nigerians face daily.

“Symbolism Cannot Replace Leadership”

The ADC further argued that Tinubu’s promise to unite the country is hollow, saying his policies and silence on critical issues have deepened divisions among Nigerians.

It warned that symbolic gestures — such as attending church events or wearing traditional outfits from different regions — cannot substitute for real leadership and compassion.

ADC’s Recommendations to the Federal Government

The party urged the federal government to take urgent and practical steps to address the security crisis, including:

  • Acknowledging the true scale of Nigeria’s security challenges instead of making false claims of success.
  • Collaborating closely with affected states and communities to understand their specific needs.
  • Improving national security coordination and strengthening cooperation between the military, police, and local vigilante groups.
  • Publishing regular reports on security operations and outcomes to ensure transparency.
  • Ensuring accountability in the use of security funds.

Call for Urgency and Accountability

The ADC concluded that Nigeria is “under attack” and that the government must stop treating insecurity as a political issue.

The rapper, known for her unfiltered honesty, voiced her frustration in a widely circulated video, lamenting the disproportionate attention her activities receive compared to those of her peers.
