Quick Summary:
Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji is affirmed APC’s consensus candidate for the 2026 Osun governorship election after a unity-driven process led by President Bola Tinubu.

Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji has been officially affirmed as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2026 Osun State governorship election, emerging through a consensus arrangement that underscores the party’s renewed commitment to unity and strategic coordination.

The decision followed a series of high-level consultations among party stakeholders, culminating in a unanimous affirmation during the APC primary election held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, in Osogbo.

Details of the Nomination

Affirmation

Oyebamiji was unanimously affirmed by 1,660 delegates representing the 332 wards across Osun State. The primary, conducted under the supervision of the APC Primary Committee, was described as peaceful and transparent, reflecting the party’s internal cohesion.

Consensus Process

The consensus approach was finalized after a strategic meeting in Abuja, where President Bola Tinubu urged all aspirants to prioritize party unity over personal ambition.

Seven aspirants were disqualified by the screening committee for procedural reasons, narrowing the field and paving the way for a harmonized selection process.

Key Backing

Among those who endorsed the consensus outcome was Senator Iyiola Omisore, former APC National Secretary and one of the disqualified aspirants. Omisore publicly declared his support for Oyebamiji, aligning with the party leadership’s directive and emphasizing the need for collective strength ahead of the 2026 polls.

Party Unity

The Chairman of the APC Primary Committee and Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, commended the spirit of unity demonstrated by Osun APC members. He described the process as a model of internal democracy, signaling the party’s readiness to reclaim Osun State from the incumbent PDP governor, Ademola Adeleke.

Oyebamiji’s Acceptance and Vision

In his acceptance speech, Oyebamiji expressed gratitude to President Tinubu, the APC leadership, and party delegates for their confidence in his candidacy.

He pledged to focus on development, job creation, and economic revitalization, drawing from his experience as the immediate past Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and former Osun State Commissioner for Finance.

Oyebamiji emphasized that his campaign would center on inclusive governanceyouth empowerment, and infrastructure renewal, promising to deliver a people-oriented administration if elected.

The Dangers of Over-Pampering: A Warning from Mama G.

Veteran Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwor, affectionately known as Mama G, has issued a poignant caution to parents regarding the potential pitfalls of over-pampering their children. Her insights, delivered with characteristic candor, underscore the critical link between childhood experiences and the development of responsible, independent adults.

Ozokwor argues that shielding children from challenges and readily providing for their every whim can, paradoxically, hinder their growth. She contends that allowing children to “struggle” and “go through the process” of earning what they desire is essential for character building. This approach, she clarifies, is not about inflicting hardship but rather about fostering resilience and an understanding of the effort required to achieve goals.

The actress also touched upon the delicate subject of family wealth and inheritance. She advocates for instilling in children the drive to create their own success rather than passively expecting to inherit their parents’ achievements. Mama G revealed she applied this principle directly with her own son, encouraging him to build his own home rather than assume entitlement to hers.

In an era where parental instincts often lean towards providing comfort and ease, Mama G’s words serve as a timely reminder. Her message resonates with the timeless wisdom that true preparation for adulthood lies not in the absence of struggle, but in the learned ability to navigate and overcome it. Parents, she suggests, must find a balance that nurtures their children without inadvertently undermining their capacity for self-reliance.
