Nollywood actress Adunni Ade has revealed that some Christian fans abandoned her after she publicly disclosed her Muslim faith.
In an interview with media personality Chude Jidenowo, Ade said she had previously been reluctant to identify openly as a Muslim because of the perceived expectations within the Nigerian film industry. She described it as “almost forbidden” for actors to publicly declare their Islamic faith.
The actress explained that she eventually spoke out because she was tired of concealing her beliefs. According to her, Islam is the religion that works for her, particularly because of its emphasis on inner character and how people treat others.
Ade disclosed that some fans unfollowed her, while others sent messages attempting to convince her to change her faith. However, she said many Muslims also welcomed and supported her.
Despite the reaction, Ade maintained that her religious identity is a personal matter and that she respects other faiths, including Christianity.
