A recently resurfaced video featuring Afrobeats superstar Ayo Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, offers a captivating insight into the artist’s past aspirations in football. In this engaging interview, Wizkid reflects on his childhood enthusiasm for the sport and candidly discusses how it could have shaped his career if music had not taken precedence.

The video provides a nostalgic look back at Wizkid’s school days, where he was an enthusiastic member of his school’s football team. He reminisces about the joy of playing the game, juxtaposed against his struggles with the early mornings required for football practice. His frank acknowledgment of his impatience with such routines highlights a pivotal moment in his life—prioritizing music over his sporting ambitions.

In his reflections, Wizkid expresses admiration for the disciplined lifestyle of his footballer friends, noting their commitment to rigorous training and the avoidance of indulgent vices. Beyond his sporting aspirations, Wizkid also provides a glimpse into his personal philosophy regarding safety and management. He explains his preference for relying on a close-knit team led by his mentor, Sunday Are, rather than employing bodyguards, which speaks to his trust in relationships over formal security.
