Peter Okoye says they prayed for fame, but now he wears a facemask in public.

Peter Okoye, the Nigerian singer known as Mr. P, recently shared his perspective on the complexities of fame after nearly three decades in the entertainment industry. In an interview with Naija FM, Mr. P revealed a surprising sentiment: a longing for anonymity.
Despite once aspiring to public recognition, Mr. P now finds himself actively avoiding it. He recounted adopting disguises – facemasks, caps, and sunglasses – to navigate public spaces unnoticed. This desire stems from a yearning for the simple pleasures of everyday life, such as spontaneously purchasing and enjoying roadside food, a luxury fame now prohibits.
Mr. P’s reflections highlight a common paradox for celebrities. While they initially pursue fame, the loss of normalcy and the constant attention can become a burden. His words serve as a reminder that success often comes with unexpected trade-offs, prompting a reevaluation of personal values and priorities.
