The directive was contained in a statement issued by Mukhtar Gidado, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the governor.
The development follows the resignation of the Chief of Staff, Government House, Hassan Gamawa, and six commissioners, who stepped down to pursue political ambitions.
New Supervisory Assignments
To fill the resulting vacancies, Governor Mohammed ordered the immediate deployment and reassignment of some cabinet members to supervise the affected ministries and offices pending the appointment of substantive replacements.
According to the directive:
- Hashimu Yakubu, Principal Private Secretary (PPS), will supervise the Office of the Chief of Staff, Government House.
- Dr. Mohammed Lawal R/Zayam has been deployed to the Ministry of Power, Science and Technology.
- Hassan Usman El-Yakub (SAN), Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, will oversee the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
- Usman Usman Shehu, Commissioner for Information and Communication, will supervise the Ministry of Water Resources.
- Rt. Hon. Danlami Ahmed Kawule, Commissioner for Housing and Environment, will oversee the Ministry of Rural Development and Special Duties.
- Amina Muhammad Katagum, Commissioner for Budget, Economic Planning and Multilateral Coordination, will supervise the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.
- Mohammed Sadiq Shira, Commissioner for Cooperatives and SMEs, will oversee the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.
- DIG Sani Mohammed (rtd.), Chief Security Adviser to the Governor, will supervise the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs.
Governor’s Directive
Governor Mohammed commended the outgoing officials for their service and wished them success in their future endeavours.
He urged the newly assigned members to take full responsibility for their roles and apply their experience to ensure effective governance and continuity.
The governor further directed them to work closely with Permanent Secretaries in managing the affairs of the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) under their supervision.
