Nigerian Afropop singer Yemi Alade has recently disclosed her past struggle with cigarette addiction. In an interview with Chude, the “Johnny” hitmaker revealed that she experimented with smoking as a teenager during her university years.

Alade admitted to developing a short-term addiction, requiring a cigarette before bed. However, she concealed her habit in public. This duality, coupled with the realization that smoking negatively impacted her voice and overall well-being, prompted her decision to quit.

Alade emphasized the importance of self-awareness and making conscious decisions, stating that she chose to abstain from activities she felt the need to hide. Her experience with smoking lasted less than a year, ultimately leading her to conclude that it was not a sustainable lifestyle choice.
