The Lakowe community in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, is reeling in shock and fear following the brutal murder of a local skit maker known as Austin. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday, August 14, has left residents in a state of panic.

According to eyewitness accounts, suspected cultists stormed Austin’s residence, dragged him out, and hacked him to death with machetes. A resident, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that one of Austin’s hands was also severed during the attack.

“There was some sort of commotion early Thursday morning, but no one knew what it was. It wasn’t until later in the morning that we were told someone’s corpse was lying somewhere around the community. When we got there, we discovered that it was Austin’s corpse. We also saw his hand severed. That was when we realised it was connected to the noise we heard early in the morning,” the source stated.

Further investigations have revealed that Austin, a hairstylist by profession, had expressed concerns about his safety prior to the attack. A cryptic farewell message was also reportedly posted on his social media status the day before the incident.

“Austin was a popular hairstylist and very good at it. He was also a skit maker and had some entertainers as friends. Those close to him said he knew he was going to die due to a post on his WhatsApp status the day before,” another resident disclosed.

The motive behind the gruesome murder remains unclear, and local authorities have yet to release an official statement. The community is calling for a thorough investigation and justice for Austin.
