Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, professionally known as Simi, has publicly expressed her disapproval of individuals addressing her daughter, Adejare, as “Duduke.” The moniker originated from Simi’s 2020 hit song “Duduke,” released in anticipation of Adejare’s birth. While acknowledging the public’s positive intentions, Simi clarified in a recent interview with VJ Adams that “Duduke” is merely an onomatopoeia representing a heartbeat and not a name she wishes her daughter to be called. Simi politely requests that the public respect her preference and refrain from using the term when addressing her daughter.
