In a recent disclosure, Senator Orji Kalu shed light on his monthly earnings as a senator, revealing that he receives 14 million naira. This amount encompasses his salary, operational costs for his office, and the salaries of his staff.
During an interview with Channels TV, Senator Kalu articulated the complexities involved in managing this budget. He emphasized that the 14 million naira must cover various essential expenses, including fuel, travel to his constituency, and the upkeep of his constituency office. Additionally, he noted the necessity of spending time in his constituency, which further strains his financial resources.
Senator Kalu candidly stated, “I earn 14 million naira in a month for everything: my salary, overhead, workers’ salary. Let me be honest with you, do you know I have to buy fuel from this money and I have to travel to my constituency and I have to maintain constituency office and I have to sit in the constituency. It is not enough.”
His remarks highlight the financial challenges faced by public officials in managing their responsibilities while addressing the needs of their constituents.
