The Senate on Wednesday confirmed Mahmoud Isa Yugudu as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The confirmation took place during plenary at the National Assembly complex in Abuja, following the presentation of a report by the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions.
Committee Endorses Nominee’s Competence
Presenting the report, the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, said the nominee demonstrated competence, integrity, and experience during the screening exercise.
The Senate subsequently adopted the committee’s recommendation and confirmed Yugudu’s appointment through a voice vote.
Presidential Nomination
President Bola Tinubu had earlier forwarded Yugudu’s nomination to the upper chamber for consideration and approval, in line with constitutional provisions governing appointments to the apex bank’s leadership.
With the confirmation, Yugudu is expected to join the CBN management team to support ongoing monetary policy reforms and financial sector stability efforts.
