Nigerian artist Rema has achieved a major milestone with his debut album, “Rave & Roses (Ultra version),” becoming the first African project to exceed 3 billion streams on Spotify.

The album’s success is largely attributed to the hit single “Calm Down” (remix with Selena Gomez), which previously made history as the first African song to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify. The combined versions of “Calm Down” account for over 2 billion of the album’s total streams, while the remaining 20 songs contributed less than a billion.

Following Rema, South African singer Tyla’s debut album is the next most-streamed African project on Spotify, with over 2 billion streams. Other African albums that have surpassed 1 billion streams include Burna Boy’s “African Giant” and “Love, Damini,” Wizkid’s “Made in Lagos: Deluxe Edition,” and CKay’s “CKay the First.”
