Nigerian Afrobeats artist Divine Ikubor, known as Rema, has been named to the 2025 TIME100 Next list. This list recognizes rising stars across various fields for their global influence.
Rema stands out as the sole African artist honored this year. Angélique Kidjo, the legendary musician, penned his profile, highlighting his achievements, including the global success of “Calm Down,” which has surpassed one billion streams twice.
Kidjo stated that Rema embodies the international success of Afrobeats, further noting that African music is at the forefront of global culture due to artists like him. Rema joins other global music figures on the list, including Teyana Taylor and GloRilla.
