In a statement signed by Caretaker Chairman Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, the committee said its attention was drawn to a viral video showing the governor asserting his PDP membership while breaking the Ramadan fast with supporters at the Government House, Bauchi.
NEC Resolutions Confirm Expulsion
The committee referenced the 103rd and 104th resolutions of the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC), which it said formally expelled Governor Bala Mohammed, alongside Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, for actions inconsistent with the party’s constitution.
According to the statement, the party’s position remains unchanged, and public declarations or media engagements cannot override the binding resolutions of the NEC.
Call for Reconciliation and Focus on Governance
The caretaker committee advised that if Governor Mohammed wishes to remain in the PDP, he must seek reconciliation with key stakeholders he had previously clashed with, particularly the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Beyond the political dispute, the committee urged the governor to focus on governance, citing rising insecurity in Bauchi State, especially within his local government area.
Appeal to Party Members
The committee called on PDP members and stakeholders in Bauchi State to treat the governor’s statement with caution and continue to support the Caretaker Committee in preserving the integrity of the party’s processes.
