Quick Summary:
State chairman Dupe Aisida dismisses claims of PDP executive dissolution, calls it unconstitutional and misleading.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has raised alarm over what it described as an attempt to destabilise the party, following claims that its State Executive Committee had been dissolved.
Addressing journalists at the party’s secretariat in Akure on Saturday, the state chairman, Dupe Aisida, dismissed the reports as false, unconstitutional, and misleading, insisting that the state leadership remains intact and fully operational.
Social Media Letter Sparks Controversy
A statement circulating on social media had alleged that a National Caretaker Working Committee had dissolved the duly elected state executive.
Aisida, however, described the claim as a political coup, stressing that the state leadership emerged through properly conducted congresses monitored by relevant authorities, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the police, and the Department of State Services (DSS).
Leadership Reaffirms Legitimacy
Aisida reiterated that the ward congresses were conducted in all 203 wards across the state, with INEC and security agencies confirming that the process followed the party’s guidelines and constitution.
He assured members that the state executive remains legitimate, urging them to disregard misinformation aimed at creating division within the party.
