Sunkanmi announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the PDP State Chairman, Abayomi Tella, on Monday, ending his 12-year membership with the party.

In his letter, Sunkanmi expressed gratitude to the PDP leadership for the opportunity to serve and for shaping his political journey.
He also appreciated several party leaders, including Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, Chief Olumide Aderinokun, and Ambassador Folake Marcus Bello, for their support and encouragement throughout his time in the PDP.
Acknowledging that his decision might disappoint some members, Sunkanmi appealed for understanding, noting that such decisions are never taken lightly.
Defection on Personal Grounds
Speaking to reporters, the youth leader from Ibara/Onisasa Ward 16 in Abeokuta North Local Government Area confirmed that his move to the APC was made on personal grounds.
His defection adds to the growing list of PDP members crossing over to the ruling APC in Ogun State ahead of the next political cycle.
