The National Judicial Council (NJC) has directed the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, to reverse the recent appointment of Justice Theophilus Nnamdi Nzeukwu as Acting Chief Judge. This decision, stemming from the NJC’s 108th meeting, mandates the appointment of the most senior judge in the state’s High Court, adhering to Section 271 (4) of the 1999 Constitution.
Furthermore, Justice Nzeukwu has been issued a query, demanding he justify his acceptance of the appointment within seven days, potentially leading to disciplinary action. The NJC has also requested an explanation from V.U. Okorie, President of the Imo State Customary Court of Appeal, regarding his recommendation of Justice Nzeukwu.
In addition to this directive, the NJC has suspended three judicial officers, including Justice Jane E. Inyang of the Court of Appeal, along with Justices Inyang Ekwo and Aminu Baffa Aliyu of the Federal High Court, for varying periods and acts of judicial misconduct. These actions underscore the NJC’s commitment to upholding judicial integrity and accountability within the Nigerian judicial system.

Social Media Critic VeryDarkMan Condemns Lavish Car Purchases by Nigerian Music Stars.

Controversial social media personality VeryDarkMan has publicly criticized prominent Nigerian musicians Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid for their recent acquisitions of expensive vehicles. This censure comes amidst growing economic hardship in Nigeria, raising questions about the musicians’ sensitivity to the struggles of their fanbase and the broader community.
The controversy erupted following Burna Boy’s purchase of a N3.5 billion McLaren Sienna, making him the first owner of this model in Africa. In a viral Instagram video, VeryDarkMan, known for his critical commentary, questioned the timing and optics of these purchases. He specifically challenged Davido, with whom he claims a personal connection, to demonstrate tangible contributions to his home state of Osun and to Nigeria as a whole. VeryDarkMan argued that these artists, having benefited significantly from Nigeria and their fans, have a responsibility to contribute to the nation’s growth and the well-being of their supporters. The critic’s remarks have ignited a debate about wealth display and social responsibility among Nigeria’s elite.
