NIJ Announces 7th Convocation Ceremony.

The Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Ogba, Lagos, has announced its 7th Convocation Ceremony, scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, 2025. A total of 707 students across various diploma programmes will graduate, with an impressive 60 students receiving Distinction certificates.

According to Provost Gbenga Adefaye, the convocation lecture, titled “AI and Public Governance,” will be delivered by Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Mr. Bashir Adeniyi, on Monday, May 5, 2025. The lecture promises to attract a diverse audience of scholars, public servants, and media professionals.

The event will be chaired by veteran journalist and Chairman of the NIJ Governing Council, Aremo Olusegun Osoba. Mr. Adefaye highlighted the institute’s commitment to quality media education despite challenges related to funding and declining admission rates, emphasizing the importance of embracing technology and maintaining academic integrity in the age of Artificial Intelligence.
