Nigerian gospel singer and pastor Nathaniel Bassey has reportedly become the first African gospel artist to surpass one billion views on YouTube.

According to statistics from his channel, Nathaniel Bassey Main, the music minister has recorded 1,014,544,577 views and attracted 5.24 million subscribers since the channel was created in 2011.

The milestone was driven by popular worship songs such as Imela, You Are God, and Onise Iyanu, as well as his online prayer and music movement, Halleluyah Challenge. Founded in 2017, the movement has attracted a global audience through its worship sessions and prayer broadcasts.

The achievement followed the conclusion of the October 5–30, 2026 edition of Halleluyah Challenge. It has sparked widespread excitement on social media, with followers congratulating Bassey on the historic accomplishment.
