Key Initiatives for the 2025 Festive Period
Drone Deployment for Real-Time Monitoring
LASTMA has officially deployed Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to provide aerial oversight of major roads. These drones identify traffic incidents and security challenges in real time, transmitting data to ground teams and security agencies for swift intervention.
24-Hour Operational Framework
Under the initiative “Operation Ember Months Stability,” the agency has adopted a round-the-clock traffic management regime.
A new Night Rapid Response Gang has been created to handle nocturnal incidents, including vehicle breakdowns and collisions, ensuring continuous coverage across the city.
Strategic Personnel Deployment
Over 2,500 personnel have been deployed to critical traffic corridors, including Ikorodu Road, the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, the Lekki-Epe Corridor, and Agege Motor Road, to manage congestion and improve flow.
Digital Enforcement
The agency is expanding the use of Traffic Management Solution (TMS) devices to record violations and issue e-tickets, reducing the need for physical confrontation between officers and motorists.
Heavy-Duty Recovery Assets
A fleet of high-, medium-, and low-capacity tow trucks has been strategically positioned across the state—particularly along the Lekki-Ajah axis—to quickly remove obstructions and restore traffic flow.
