KatsinaAttack has left the Doguwar Dorawa community in mourning after bandits killed two community leaders and abducted several residents during a late-night raid on Thursday in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to community sources, the attackers invaded the farming settlement around 10 p.m., killing two brothers, Alhaji Bishir and Alhaji Surajo, despite an existing peace deal between the communities and the bandits.
Attack Details
Eyewitnesses said the assailants arrived on motorcycles, parked them in nearby bushes, and walked into the village to avoid detection. They reportedly operated for over an hour, killing, looting, and abducting residents without resistance.
A community leader, Mahadi Danbinta Guga, confirmed the killings, describing them as cold-blooded murders.
Residents believe the attackers are loyalists of Idi Abasu Aiki and Kwashen Garwa, two notorious bandit leaders operating in Bakori and surrounding areas.
Simultaneous Raids
While Doguwar Dorawa was under attack, another group of bandits simultaneously raided Layin ‘Yannehu, rustling several animals.
Similar incidents have been reported in Ganjar, Alhazawa, and Gidan Nagari in recent weeks, with over 40 people abducted and multiple families displaced.
Peace Deal Under Threat
The latest attack comes barely weeks after Bakori, along with Malumfashi and Funtua LGAs, entered a peace accord with bandits in an effort to curb killings and abductions.
Residents now fear that the renewed violence signals a collapse of the fragile peace agreement.
As of the time of this report, neither the Katsina State Government nor the Bakori Local Government Council had issued an official statement regarding the incident.
