Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has declared that compliance with asset declaration must be a minimum standard for every public office holder in Nigeria, stressing that no official has an excuse for non-compliance.

Speaking on Tuesday while receiving top officials of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), South-East Zone, in his office, Otti said both he and his deputy had duly declared their assets before assuming office.

Directive To Ensure Full Compliance

Governor Otti directed the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Emmanuel Meribole, to work with relevant officials to ensure that all political appointees and public officers in the state comply fully with the constitutional requirement.

He emphasized that asset declaration is a constitutional obligation, not a matter of choice, and must be treated as a core element of public accountability.
